We’re looking for an exceptional talent who combines artistry and passion with precision and hospitality. This is an opportunity to work for a successful luxury lifestyle hotel operator in the city noted for their creative fine dining restaurant concepts.  The Pastry Chef will be responsible for creating dessert menus and overseeing the pastry team.
 
The Pastry Chef is accountable for all functions of the pastry department including but not limited to the following:
  • Developing the pastry menus for a fine dining restaurant and all hotel amenities
  • Has to be extremely creative and on point with all current trends relevant with pastry and baking and be able to change the menu seasonally
  • Creating and distributing the prep lists for all menus to the pastry staff
  • Hiring, training, and scheduling all pastry staff
  • Creating a culture of learning for new staff and instilling the importance of the company's commitment to excellence
  • Communicating with the Special Events Coordinator to make desserts for all parties and special events
 Qualifications:
  • At least three years of experience with pastry production in a Hotel environment with familiarity of banquets and in-room dining a definite plus
  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts preferred or the experience and knowledge to back it up
  • Demonstrated creative talent as a fine dining Pastry Chef with a solid background in the fundamentals and the classics
  • Above average computer skills including POS systems, scheduling systems, spreadsheets, word processing, internet, and email
  • Ability to represent the company to, and deal effectively with, guests, vendors, media and other company contacts
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of company staff in a team-oriented work setting, including ability to take the role of leader/facilitator in areas of responsibility
  • Strong interest in and commitment to the company mission, purpose and principles
  • Demonstrated planning, administrative, organizational and time management skills; proven project management skills
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to convey ideas, give and take feedback
